We have a bit of an obsession with Shrinky Dinks.
If you’ve never given them a try, you definitely should! They are so much fun!
Emily is a crazed Harry Potter and Hunger Games fan, so she decided to make several items inspired by these books with Shrinky Dinks, including awesome Fangirl necklaces. She printed out a small photo of one of her favorite books, traced it on the Shrinky Dink Paper, colored it in with colored pencils and placed it in a toaster oven.
To make the book into a pendant, she attached an Aanraku Bail . You can also use a hole punch just before you place it in the oven and attach a jump ring once it has been baked.
Here is a Hogwarts Crest necklace that she made:
For the full instructions to make this project, watch our video:

Cool design! I like it?
Oops! I meant, I love it!
Glad you like it Haicrazey!
hey LoomLove
that’s a pretty cool craft idea
perfect for fangirls like me 🙂
do you have to flip it for colouring or can you colour it on any side ?
got that doubt because emily said flip it over, but ended up colouring on both sides.
Anyway, that death mark and the hogwarts crest look too good. 🙂
Strawberry Shortcake, glad you like it. Re: your question, trace it with marker on the shiny side, then flip it over to colour it in with coloured pencil.
Yes, Emily did! You’re correct 🙂
Hi loomlove. You said something about shrinkie dink paper? What’s that and where can it be bought or are there any alternatives to use instead of that?
🙂 – Hayley
Hi Hayley, You have to use Shrinky Dink paper for this project. You can find it on Amazon or at craft stores such as Michael’s.
Hi umm i want to say who is emily the long one or the other one well the one who had wear ( catching fire ) fan girl necklace
this is cool!!! i don’t have the stuff to make ’em…:(
Hi- do you have to use bail and where can youu buy it?
This person, there is a link to where to buy the bail in the description of the video (Amazon.com). You can also use a hole punch and a jump ring.. .just make sure you punch the hole before you bake the Shrinky Dink.
Ok.
Hey LoomLove! The video didn’t necessarily say how long you need to bake the Shrinkie Dink paper. How long IS it actually meant to be in the oven for?
Also, I commented a couple of messages with different names for the ‘Name’ section on them. The comments then did not show up on the site. I didn’t say any offensive stuff at all but it didn’t show up. I’d be grateful if at least this one showed up.
I love your craft videos! Keep the amazing work up! <3 🙂 😀
From 'this person'
It only about thirty seconds for ours to bake.
I think you can also use felt tip pens, though I haven’t tried it YET!!! Do felt tip pens work, also considering the fact that it’s runny and might spoil the SHRINKY DINKY PAPERY. 🙂 😀 🙁 😐 (Just checking which emoticons work)
Hi, how did you make the broomstick so thin?
