How to Make an Owl

owl

If you use the right colours this Rainbow Loom owl looks amazing! We did not use the right colours!:) We should have used white bands instead of silver, and grey instead of maroon.

This is what it should look like: (Owl pictured is by Erin Wright.)

To tell you the truth, this is one of the most difficult RL projects we have ever attempted. That is, aside from the Rainbow Loom iPhone case.

The video tutorial for this owl started out great, but it went downhill as it progressed and became very, very difficult to follow. We do not recommend this tutorial unless you are extremely skilled at RL!

We hope that RainbowLoomCreation makes a new and improved video, because it is such a neat project!

SO CUTE!!! Do you need two looms for this? I loaned out my second one for a week. And that week doesn’t end until Saturday. But if it only requires one loom, I’m back in business!

  2. Kaylee says:

Why is it so complicated???? There’s 3 parts and you said how hard it is!! It just looks like a fishtail in the shape of an owl, which sounds easy!!!! Is it really that hard?????? Please tell me, because I might try it!!!
P.S. I LOVE your website, Loom Love!!!!!!!!!

The owl isn’t terribly difficult to do as long as you take your time. The video is extremely difficult to follow though. I had to go back many, many times. The bands are very hard to see, even when I put the video in full screen mode. I didn’t find the instructor all that helpful in some places, and when looping bands, it sure doesn’t help that the loom is pointing down towards the table. But in the end, my owl turned out okay, with only minor mistakes that I was able to stitch up, luckily. So it wasn’t a complete waste of my time. I did make my owl in the white/gray tone colors. For the two white bands I used one white band and one glow band, so he glows in the dark, and he looks pretty cool. My fiance has a thing for owls, so he really likes the little guy. Don’t be afraid, try it!

I made a owl on 2 forks and many more things….just go to youtube and then type loom band charms using two forks and you will get a lot of things…

  4. Erin Wright says:

That is my owl charm (the white one). I got the video from rainbowloomcreations but the white owl itself was not made by that person. I made it and can prove it by taking a pic of the couch cushion you see behind my hand

  5. Grace says:

Ah ha! Made it on my first attempt–but a few bands broke in the hooking process, and I could even find one band! But it’s done and looks (mildly) okay.

    Loom it up, peeps!

  6. Sophie says:

Although it may look like a fishtail, it is actually a single using doubled bands in the shape of an owl. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Cathleen says:

If loomlove can sell these how much will it be?
And why is it so hard to make?
And are these more difficult than other bracelets or charms?

  8. Jamie Lynn says:

Please make up a cheerleader figure. -Jamie Lynn
Totally love loom love. My friend Ellis wanted to buy a cheerleader.

  9. BMO says:

OMG… this is SOOO cute!! Plus, it’s not that hard at all. The video was a tiny bit blurry, so I couldn’t see much. But still, great creation!!

  10. TLC says:

My daughter tried this 3 times and ended up in tears each time as she couldn’t get the weaving part toward the end. I tried it and couldn’t see which band I was suppose to be pulling so mine didn’t work either. We will give it one last try together and use the same colors that the video uses to see if that helps us. It’s horribly frustrating, hours wasted trying to figure it out. Where’s the fun in that for the child?

  11. Olivia Grace says:

Hey loom love, could I, instead of using the video, make a double banded triple single plus the eys wings feet and beak and make the owl but in a differnt way?

P.S I think you owl turned out supercute

  12. Karen says:

  13. Olivia Grace says:

    Hey LoomLove,
Above I asked if I could use a triple single for it and then I tried it and it worked!!! I would love to show it off!!!
P.S if you guys to another contest, could you do it charm themed?:)

  14. Hermione Granger says:

P.S Ellen Carpenter’s blog, http://craftingfantastic.blogspot.co.uk/ is REALLY good, her designs are amazing and for most of them, you need two looms but for nearly every bracelet/charm there is a one loom version too! I have made TONS of her designs ๐Ÿ˜€

  15. Hermione Granger says:

If you visited Ellen Carpenter’s blog, can you please tell me what you thought of it?

  16. Brenda says:

  18. Anam Abbasi says:

  19. Anam Abbasi says:

Loomlover??? Yes there is a VERY easy one its an instruct able by nburk1 and its super cute and very easyยก!!!!!!!!!

  20. Lucy Turnbull says:

I made one of these without a tutorial and using two boards that were completely different shapes and sizes. It took about an hour and I did it before this was even posted, it wasn’t that hard really compared to other complicated loom bands I have created!
